Team sent out by Pachuca base

Dear friends,

This past January 3rd, we celebrated another anniversary as a YWAM base in Pachuca. It’s now been three years since the dream of starting YWAM Pachuca came true; it’s been a wonderful time of hard work and fruit-bearing that we give God the honor and glory for.

Since the beginning, it has been in our heart to reach the city of Pachuca and the Huasteca in Hidalgo; and we’ve had a special long-term focus on Mexico City.

For the last two years, our base has been sending teams, volunteers and missionaries to minister in prostitution areas and with at-risk youth on the streets of Mexico City, showing love and acceptance founded on prayer, intercession and evangelism, and giving testimony to Christ’s love.

It is now my joy to introduce to you a group of five young people who have taken the step of faith of being sent by our base to live and serve in Mexico City during 2010. We are additionally praying for God’s favor to see this project become a new Youth with a Mission base in this, one of the largest cities in the world.

Recently, God has been speaking to us through his word and showing us the example of Caleb and Joshua (Numbers 13:30), the only two of the spies who believed that with God the land could be taken as their inheritance. We are also believing in this promise of God and are therefore, in faith, taking Mexico City as our inheritance, desiring to see it transformed by God’s power. What we as Youth with a Mission want to do is join in with God’s people and the work that is being done in this city.

We know that this endeavor requires a lot of responsibility and prayer, which is why we ask you to join us in prayer and in seeing Mexico City fall to Jesus’ feet.

There are currently many things going on with the Church in Mexico, politics, and each individual’s thinking, but what can we do to see real transformation take place in Mexico City? What can we do to serve the people? What can a group of just a few young people do in a city with a population of 25 million? These are just a few of the questions we ask ourselves, whose answers come with God’s day-to-day revelation, and by working with the local church. One thing we do know for sure is that we have been called to love Christ and our neighbor, and take the nations as our inheritance.

1. Sending Team
2. 6/22/2010

June 22, 2010

It’s now been four months since the team moved here to Mexico City and God has shown himself to be so faithful, generous, and good to all of us here. There are now 6 on the team (we’ve had short-term staff that come and go), and an incredible thing is that of the 6 team members, we have 5 countries represented! God truly is uniting the nations with Mexico!

Over these past few months, we have seen miracles in our midst! One huge blessing that God really came through with was in placing a fellow brother in our path to rent us an apartment: a furnished place with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, an unlimited time limit, very accessible rent, and so much more! This has been such an answer to prayer, and we’ve been so blessed to have a place of our “own” to come home to. God has also been working in a mighty way through the ministries here in the City (read team members’ blogs to follow specific stories and updates), and we are thankful to have been able to experience God’s transforming power in going out to the youth who live on the streets. God’s word is the key to change and we’ve been able to take that to the streets in practical and creative ways, through teachings, crafts, medical care, etc. This has also been something we’ve been applying within the prostitution ministry very recently, for example in hanging posters with key verse “pull-offs” in target areas. We experienced how God’s word is penetrating hearts like when after a poster was hung, a few minutes later, team members passed by and saw a worker bent over, crying and praying. We hope and pray that God will continue to touch hearts through this simple act, and place the right people in our paths to come into contact with and help guide down the right path.

We appreciate all the prayers and support sent our way. During this time, we’ve been able to experience being God’s presence here in this immense city through prayer and intercession, and partnership with the local Church Body.
