What is YWAM?
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is an interdenominational organization made up of thousands of people and hundreds of ministries in almost every country of the world. Our overriding passion is to know God and to make Him known.
Our mission is to transform the nations of the world by using our service in order to influence the most important aspects of society: business, education, sports, arts and entertainment, media, family, and church.
There are three strands of ministry in all that YWAM does: Evangelism, Training & Discipleship, and Mercy Ministry.
Evangelism: As a missionary organization, we believe that our main purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission.
Training: We do training and discipleship "Jesus-style": our on-base staff spend long hours with the students each day. The goal is to encourage personal tranformation and character development in the life of each student, equipping them to be more effective in their service within the body of Christ, and in ministering in the different spheres of society.
Mercy Ministries: We are conscious of our Christian social responsibility, knowing that we must express God’s love and mercy towards the world, be it mankind or the environment...

What makes YWAM Pachuca unique?
|
|
The city of Pachuca this located only 58 miles from one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City. Until now, in the last years there has not been a YWAM base closer than 280 miles. The question that has resonated in many minds during these years is “How it is possible that a YWAM base does not exist in the city of Mexico?” - the city that has main influence on the entire country in politics, economy, arts and the culture. It is also one of the places with the most crime in the country, youth on the streets, and high addiction rates, in addition to many other problems. It is the Heart of Mexico and its beat needs to be heard.
|
|
We think that the Pachuca base can be a platform and an important strategic point to reach the city of Mexico. There is a sea of 25 million people only 45 minutes away from our base's location. In addition, at about 140 miles distance we have what it is called Las Tres Huastecas, a beautiful place with Nahuatl origins where the state of Hidalgo is united with San Luis Potosí and Veracruz. All of this land we consider our battleground and believe that God is the one who has put us on this spot of the map to conquer the heart of Mexico for the Lord's kingdom.

What are the main ministries of YWAM Pachuca?
|
| YWAM Pachuca hosts a visionary staff with many talents and desires to reach the needy within the area. As we further develop relationship within the community, churches and families, we continually encounter opportunities to serve and discover areas of ministry to be developed.
The Discipleship Training School is one of the primary ministries of YWAM Pachuca; we run an Arts DTS and will be starting the next one January 15, 2012!
The base currently partners in training churches and serving in the community. Youth being one of the main targets for YWAM Pachuca, there are posibilities for English classes that we seek to develop, we've begun a skate ministry reaching youth in the downtown area, and we run an annual youth camp/discipleship program called the Urban Challenge, which also has year-round follow-through with a committed group of young people. This select group forms part of a tight-knit community that receives intense training to grow more in God and learn practical tools to make him known, often including drama, dance, preaching, one-on-one witnessing, etc.
YWAM Pachuca addtionally holds ministry in Mexico City. The main focuses of the ministry are working with homeless youth on the streets, reaching prostitution workers in high-risk areas, interceding in the City, and training, equipping and networking with the local church and youth.
|
 |
YWAM Pachuca also hosts ministry in the Huasteca, a mountainous, indigenous region a few hours away. Opportunities have opened up to present in schools, towns and remote villages through cultural presentations, youth conferences, community projects and evangelistic programs, all of which, glory to God, bear fruit in their time!

If you are interested in coming as a student, we welcome you to serve with us here in Pachuca and Mexico City. The Heart of Mexico

Pachuca is located in the state of Hidalgo, which is surrounded by Querrétaro, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Tlaxcala, Puebla, and the State of Mexico.
Mexico City is the most important economic, industrial and cultural center in the country of Mexico. Within the 571 sq. miles of the Federal District, Mexico City, there is a population of nearly 9 million inhabitants; about 20 million reside within the Metropolitan area.
We believe there is a specific calling to Mexico City, starting with YWAM bases being planted in the surrounding areas of and reaching into the schools, streets, homes, churches - hearts - that are in need of a Savior.

About YWAM (cont'd)
YWAM began in 1960 with the zeal of Loren Cunningham, who broke the stereotype of acceptable-missionary-models with his vision. He saw young people and teenagers as waves pounding the shores of the continents, bringing with them the message of hope to a dying world. A little perseverance mixed with large amounts of grace soon led to the birth of our organization.
We are a mixture of people from 149 countries around the world. In many of our locations, people from a wide variety of nations and nationalities serve side by side. We come from numerous different Christian denominations and speak hundreds of languages. Nearly half of our staff comes from "non-Western" countries such as Korea, Indonesia, India and Nepal.
In addition to our full-time staff, many YWAM locations host short-term outreach teams made up of individuals, youth groups, families and churches who get to participate first-hand in "making God known" through both words and actions. We send out over 25,000 short-term missionaries each year.
